Since the program’s onset in early April, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has provided critical support across the U.S. to nearly 4 million businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. While the program has been a lifeline through unprecedented economic uncertainty, the haste with which it was created meant that many guidelines have been elusive, and others seem to change at every turn, leaving prospective and active borrowers reaching for answers and waiting for final rulings on the terms for loan forgiveness.
Some of our questions were answered (or, so we thought!) when the SBA issued the PPP Loan Forgiveness Application in mid-May. Some of those answers changed, yet again, on June 5th, with the enactment of the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act.
